BRUNO LUNELLI, FERRARI RESERVE 2006

In memory of Bruno Lunelli, the “Ferrari Riserva Bruno Lunelli, vintage 2006, was conceived and created by the Ferrari company of Trento.

This was an act of love and gratitude from Bruno Lunelli’s grandchildren, one hundred years after his birth. It is also a particular bottle with a convex bottom. The first bottle with a convex bottom was made with the 1995 vintage and came out for the 120th anniversary of the Ferrari Trento winery.

2006 is the second vintage produced, with this particular bottle. This pure chardonnay comes from portions of vineyards owned by the Lunelli family located on the slopes of the mountains surrounding Trento, up to 600 meters above sea level.

2006 is certainly a great vintage for this mountain chardonnay. This special reserve is aesthetically distinguished by the shape of the bottle with a convex bottom and is also combined with Ferrari’s first NFT (Non-Fungible Token). The NFT ensures the digital authenticity of each numbered copy.

The bottles produced of Bruno Lunelli reserve 2006 are 6891.

Bruno Lunelli had understood that Giulio Ferrari, the previous owner of the company, had created a bubble that could compete with the French ones. Bruno Lunelli was the owner of a wine shop in Trento, and in 1952 he managed to convince Giulio Ferrari to sell him the company that he bought by signing many bills of exchange. His farsightedness and his entrepreneurial spirit proved him right so much so that today the company is a leader in its sector thanks to the fact that even Bruno’s children and then his grandchildren were able and good both from a productive and commercial point of view .

Bruno wanted to obtain a bubble that could compete, in terms of quality, with champagne and he succeeded completely.

Bruno’s grandchildren, the third generation of the Lunelli family, wanted to pay homage to him with this great reserve.

This nectar was obtained with selected Chardonnay grapes harvested during the month of September.

The wine remained on the lees for 15 years, has an alcohol content of 12.5% vol., a dosage of 37gr/lt, the disgorgement dates back to January 2022, and the format available is 0.75l.

Now let’s move on to my tasting notes.

AZIENDA FERRARI TRENTO

FERRARI RISERVA BRUNO LUNELLI 2006

(Grapes : 100% Chardonnay)

(bottle n. 2382/6891)

Intense and shiny golden yellow dress. The bubbles are very fine and numerous.

Intense mineral aromas of flint and popcorn rise from the glass (mineral note for me) accompanied by an intense aroma of juniper berry.

The olfactory path continues with notes of cedar peel, helichrysum (mint, licorice and chamomile), wildflower honey, vanilla, ripe banana, pastry, rubber yeasts, ending with whispers of Coccoina glue (coconut and almond milk) .

Tasting caressed by delicate bubbles and the intense flavor of chestnut honey. Flavors of lemon, yellow grapefruit and barley hard candy follow.

Savory and mineral wine with a well-dosed medium body. The freshness is overflowing and with the help of minerality and sapidity it completely dominates the alcoholic mass. Its intense aromatic persistence is long with a citrus, licorice and green rennet apple finish.

This contrast of honey, citrus fruit and green rennet apple is beautiful.

Wide and deep wine.                  (98/100)

I will not deny that when I found myself in front of the glass to start my gustatory journey I was excited because I was aware of being in front of a top-level sparkling wine and my tasting confirmed this.
